Desert Diamond Casino
The Desert Diamond West Valley Casino was designed as a destination-level experience inspired by the concept of “Dynamic Earth.” Drawing from the energy and movement of the desert, the space features sweeping curvilinear forms and an immersive 75,000-square-foot gaming floor anchored by a dramatic, illuminated ceiling canopy.
MicroLite!™ Solutions
KMDI fabricated 162 ceiling-mounted fins and two large-scale column surrounds using MicroLite!™, enabling the project’s ambitious scale without the weight constraints of traditional materials. Fin lengths range from 4 feet to over 90 feet, with depths up to 16 feet, while the column surrounds rise over 33 feet tall and span 90 feet across.
Each fin incorporates a translucent bottom face housing an RGB LED lighting system, allowing the ceiling to come alive with dynamic, ever-changing light inspired by the desert sky and monsoon storms. MicroLite!™’s versatility made it possible to create long, continuous panels with tight, flush seams, including seamless integration at the LED lenses. The result is a cohesive, high-impact installation that blends large-scale fabrication with immersive lighting to energize the entire space.
