Performing Arts Center

Pacific High School’s new Performing Arts Center in San Bernardino, California, features a 500-seat theater designed to support student performance, creativity, and collaboration. The 16,800-square-foot facility brings professional-grade theatrical technology and dedicated spaces for music, choir, drama, and other performing arts under one roof.

KMDI contributed custom architectural elements throughout the facility, with a major focus on integrating acoustic performance into the theater’s design without compromising its cohesive design.

KMDI Solutions

KMDI fabricated a coordinated system of architectural wall panels throughout the auditorium using MicroLite!™ and integrated acoustic materials. Micro-perforated panels with 0.060-inch holes and an NRC rating of 0.80 to 0.85 work with acoustic soundboards to help manage sound absorption and reverberation in the large theater. Strategic placement of perforated and solid panels supports the room’s acoustic requirements.

Beyond the auditorium, KMDI also fabricated the cover for the lobby staircase and the architectural portal surrounding it, extending the custom detailing into the building’s other spaces.
